In 1987, Australia made its first mobile phone call. The handset was about the size of a briefcase and cost over $4,000 — but the battery lasted just 20 minutes. As SBS marks its 50th anniversary in June, we look back at the years from 1985 to 1995, featuring rare audio from the archives.
