This year marked the 7th anniversary of the 2011 Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami in Japan. The Japanese community in Sydney held a charity event in Crows Nest. Broadcast on the 13th of March, 2018.

The event, East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Recovery Charity Event TSU-NA-GU 2018, was held at a local community centre and attracted more than 500 people. The money they raised on the day, including donations and the proceeds from stalls, reached about $3,400.

The money will be donated to the Japan Club of Sydney (JCS)'s charity 7-day homestay program called Rainbow Project. JCS started the annual program in 2011and have kept inviting students from the disaster-affected area to Sydney ever since.
