2 years in the making, Australian-Japanese producer Taka Perry’s debut EP album “KAKOMIRAI” was dropped on August 12.
Translated “past and future”, KAKOMIRAI looks back at Taka’s past 7 years in the music industry, how it has made the artist as we know today, and the journey ahead.
Born and raised in Canberra by an American father and a Japanese mother, Taka says music was always part of him, as long as he could remember.
Taka picked up a clarinet when he was 8 years old, and by the time he had reached high school, his interest had spread from guitar to bass, to piano and drums.
He soon wanted to “combine them all”, and began producing music by the time he was 11-12 years old.
Taka’s love for music became more serious when he was in year 11, through a music producer who he met at a school workshop. The producer invited Taka to join him for some sessions.
His talent was evident, co-writing and co- producing for various artists soon after, and by the time he was 20 years old, Taka released his debut single “Introspect”.

He is also dubbed by triple j as ‘a strong and important presence on the scene’,
Taka says, his debut EP KAKOMIRAI is the culmination of his musical exploration to this point, and a springboard for the journey ahead.
"It’s about reflecting on the past and how it made me the artist and person that I am today, but also looking into the future as I try to push the boundaries of my own creativity and reach new heights"
The quadrilingual track "Apollo" recorded on the EP features, MUNGMUNG, Cyprus and three members of 1300 - goyo, rako and DALI HART - all Australia based artists with Asian influences.
"I’ve always been fascinated with the merging of cultures in not only music but in life. This is the sound of east meeting west, delivered in real time and I couldn’t be more proud to bring it to you"
As a bilingual artist, Taka hopes to bring together the music industry of Japan and Australia closer together.
