Dr. Kawashima is a Honorary Fellow at Macquarie University in Sydney.  Being a first-generation Japanese immigrant to Australia herself, Dr. Kawasima has been studying Japanese people who move across borders.

At a recent online symposium which was held to celebrate the International Women's Day, Dr. Kawashima said "being a female and an immigrant is a blessing and also a curse." 

In the audio, Dr. Kawashima explains what she meant by saying it and she shares a glance of her study of Japanese holiday-makers in Australia.
