Canadian police knew they were closing in on teen fugitivesKam McLoud and Bryer Schmegelsky.
The pair had been on the run for almost a month, suspects for the shooting deaths of Australian Lucas Fowler and his girlfriend Chynna Dees, and charged for the murder of Canadian botanist Leonard Dyck.
But the Manitoba bush land the teens had escaped to, more than 3000 kilometres from where the victims' bodies were found in British Colombia, was dense and dangerous.
