Japanese ikebana (flower arrangement) is enjoyed throughout Australia. Ikenobo, with a history spanning more than 550 years in Japan, is the oldest and largest school of ikebana. Its Sydney chapter is holding a special flower exhibition at the Art Gallery of NSW in August to mark its 30th anniversary. We spoke to Senkō Ikenobo, the Headmaster Designate of Ikenobo, who will be giving a demonstration at the exhibition in Sydney, and Aya Shibata, president of the Sydney chapter.
