Celebrations across Japan marked the beginning of the Reiwa era.
Japanese community in Australia is also part of the celebration.

The Consul-General of Japan in Melbourne, Kazuyoshi Matsunaga hosted the reception at his residence in Melbourne. It was attended by a number of guests including Linda Dessau, the Hon Governor of Victoria, Josh Bull, Parliamentary Secretary for Multicultural Affairs, representing both Premier Daniel Andrews and The Hon Richard Wynne, Minister for Multicultural Affairs and David Davis, Shadow Minister and Member for Southern Metropolitan Region, representing the Leader of the Opposition.
Consul-General Matsunaga introduced the life of the new Emperor Naruhito using slide shows. Consul-General Matsunaga highlighted Emperor's experience as a homestay student in Melbourne back in 1974.
A prominent Calligrapher and Sumi-e artist, Junko Azukawa demonstrated calligraphy work writing Reiwa 令和.
