The census connects the past and future of the Japanese-Australian community, and it underpins our daily lives today. We speak to Dr Yuriko Nagata of the University of Queensland, an expert on the history of the Japanese-Australian community, and Associate Professor Hitomi Nakanishi of the University of Canberra, a specialist in urban planning and disaster management, about the importance of the census.
