World Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai opened on 13 April. Around 160 countries and territories have pledged to participate, including Australia. We spoke to Nancy Gordon, Commissioner General for Australia, World Expo Osaka 2025, about what Australia is showcasing to the world.


The theme of the Expo is ‘Designing Future Society for Our Lives’. In line with this, the Australia Pavilion has its theme ‘Chasing the Sun’, and is offering visitors an immersive exhibition showcasing four Australian values.

In the audio, we spoke to Ms Gordon about the content of the pavilion and what she hopes to tell about Australia to Japan and the world.

■More than 150 cultural events planned

On 26 April, Japanese Australian BMX racer and Paris Olympics gold medallist Saya Sakakibara attended one of the cultural events held at the pavilion.
