Crowds of war veterans and young Australians have gathered at dawn services around the country to commemorate Anzac Day. For many it was their first-time at a service and for more familiar faces, it was a chance to put politics aside and reflect on lives lost at war.

It's the 104th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings, a chance for Australians to remember the events of World War One and honour fallen soldiers from all battles.
