A Sydney-based Japanese mum worked over her plan of opening a school during her pregnancy. When her child turned one, Akiko decided to make a move.

Akiko runs Taishin Japanese Abacus in Sydney and also teaches Japanese Abacus there.
In the audio, Akiko told us how she started the school and the differences in teaching between Australia and Japan.
There is another Japanese abacus school in Cairns. Akiko hopes that she can work together with other Japanese Abacus schools in Australia and eventually hold a national Japanese Abacus competition in the future.
