Two glass artworks by Yusuke Takemura, a Japanese born sculptor in Canberra, are now showing at the exhibition ‘Shifts in Japanese materiality’ at the Japan Foundation in Sydney.

Yusuke completed his Bachelor degree in Fine Arts (glass) from Kurashiki University of Science and the Arts in 2006.  And In 2009, Yusuke completed a Master’s Degree from The University of Sydney. Yusuke is now continuing his studies at The Australian National University (ANU) in Canberra.

In the interview, Yusuke explains to us about his glass works displayed at the exhibition.  Also Yusuke shares his thoughts on how being a Japanese artist in Australia affects his artwork.
