Ms. Takao is a researcher at the University of Wollongong, focusing on the effect of linguistic background on gender identity.
Before moving to Australia, she worked with the United Nations and JICA, providing humanitarian aid and support in conflict zones and disaster-stricken areas worldwide.
In part one of this two-part interview, Ms. Takao reflects on heartwarming interactions with locals across different nations, the harsh realities she witnessed firsthand, and the challenges aid organisations face as the global landscape becomes increasingly complex and unstable.
