Located in the small suburb of Melbourne's Southeast, Kingswood Primary School is a Victorian state school which offers Japanese as its Language Other Than English (LOTE). The school has annual Japanese Day and invites several guests who show and teach Japanese musical instruments, Japanese performance, Manga drawing, Martial arts and Ink arts.


On November 2nd, Japanese Day was held at Kingswood Primary School in Dingley Village, Victoria. Children attended school wearing Japanese-inspired costumes, such as kimono, karate-gi, ninja and pikachu costumes. They also brought Japanese style bento boxes and some students brought "Kyaraben" (short for character bento, lunch that is decorated to look like favourite character, animals, plants). Students experienced a variety of Japanese culture throughout the morning, Japanese Taiko (Toshi Sakamoto), Shamisen (Noriko Tadano), Japanese Music (Ayako Fujii&Ayako Tsunazawa), Japanese Play (Anne Norman), Ink Art (Miho Araki), Martial Arts (Darren Ball), Manga (Kenny Chan), finished with the concert by Noriko & George.
