Yumiko had to give up her dream of becoming a reconstructive surgeon after her health deteriorated due to extremely demanding working hours.  Yumiko consulted the hospital where she worked but nothing has changed.

Yumiko loved her job until she started working for a hospital in Sydney.  As an uncredited registrar, she didn't have anyone to ask for any advice on issues at the workplace.

Only after Yumiko shared her experience on her blog this February and made the issue public, the hospital contacted her to apologise.

In the audio, Yumiko explains to us what made her go public with this issue as most of the junior doctors chose not to do so to protect their careers.  Yumiko also shares what changes she would like to see in the medical industry and things she looks forward to doing in the future.

Yumiko will attend 15 conferences as a guest speaker this year to share her experience. She will talk about a range of topics from mental health to career and leadership.
