Japan Festival 2019 was held in Box Hill, Melbourne's east on 19th May.

It has been 20 years since the first Japan Festival was held in Melbourne. "Great weather, great turnout," said Keiko Davies, Chairman Japan Festival Organising Committee. The festival has seen 4000 visitors by 2pm. Food and drinks were almost sold out by mid-afternoon.

One of the featured events of the day was tuna-filleting show. It was carried out by a group of over 10 top Japanese chefs in Melbourne. This year, 2 of the giant southern bluefin tuna (weighed 47kg each) were provided by Oceania Seafoods. The crowd enjoyed watching how the enormous tuna was filleted and eating a piece of the freshest tune that they have ever tasted.
