It's been 262 days in lockdown but it's finally over for Melbourne. Midnight celebrations kicked off the end of the city's record-breaking pandemic restrictions.

Melbourne's lockdown has been lifted, with some venues and hairdressers opening on the stroke of midnight (Thu/Fri).

The new rules see an end to stay-at-home orders and Melbourne's curfew has been scrapped.

Dine-in hospitality is back, along with limited household visits.

The limits that had been placed on suburban travel no longer apply, although Melburnians won't yet be allowed to travel into regional Victoria.

And the staged return of children to school continues with students in years 7 and 11 returning to school full-time from today instead of the next Tuesday.

The regional town of Mildura has also ended its lockdown a day earlier than planned.

Meanwhile Victoria is set to scrap hotel and home quarantine requirements for all fully vaccinated International arrivals who test negative for COVID-19.

The change is expected to take place on November the 1st, which will bring it in line with New South Wales.
