At least they would - if their voices were heard.


 

America's non-naturalised immigrant adults are diverse and numerous, and given the states where they live, could have the potential to sway the 3 November election result.

According to the think tank Pew Research Center, there are around 20 million adults in the United States - who are lawful permanent and temporary residents, and undocumented migrants.

Professor Simon Jackman, CEO of the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney, says how the non-citizen immigrant population would vote can be imagined by looking at how the naturalised immigrant population votes - which is mainly for the Democrat party.
