Interest in physical exercise has seen a historic surge during the COVID-19 pandemic. Online searches for exercise-related terms such as "home-based exercise, "workouts" and "fitness training" reached an all-time high at the pandemic's peak in April. In the first two weeks of Australia's lockdown, searches for the topic of "exercise" even surpassed "television show". The findings were made by researchers from the University of Sydney, who analysed Google Trends data from Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States.
