Private health system in need of repair

A new report has warned the private health system needs urgent repair as younger Australians continue to drop out at an alarming rate. It's sparked calls from consumers and the industry alike for the Federal Government to do more to make cover more affordable.

A grim prognosis for a multi-billion dollar insurance sector.  A leading think-tank says private health cover is costly, unfair and confusing. 

The Grattan Institute's Health Program Director Stephen Duckett says the industry is facing a financial crisis as fund membership becomes increasingly dominated by the over 65s.
