October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Let's use this opportunity to start a conversation on breast cancer. We asked a specialist from Japanese Society of Breast Cancer.

In Australia, 55 people are diagnosed with breast cancer daily, while in Japan, 1 out of every 11 women is said to develop breast cancer sometime during their life time. Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer diagnosed in both countries, but if detected early, 90% are treatable.

Pinktober or Pink Ribbon month, October is breast cancer awareness month, to increase the awareness and support for early detection.

It is a campaign held world wide, and like Melbourne's Bolte Bridge and Marina Mirage in Gold Coast, landmarks all over the world are lit up in Pink.

We welcomed breast cancer specialist, Dr. Yumi Kashikura from Japanese Society of breast cancer, and Mika, a Brisbane resident with breast cancer experience to start a conversation and increase our awareness and knowledge of breast cancer.
