President Trump has announced the U-S has seized an oil tanker off the coast of Venezuela, a move that comes amid rising escalations with Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s government. United States Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth has praised the AUKUS defence pact in a ministerial meeting at the Pentagon with Australian Defence Minister Richard Marles and his British counterpart John Healey. Anti-nuclear campaigners are raising significant concerns that Australia could soon play host to nuclear weapons carried on military assets from the United States as part of the AUKUS agreement.
