A 60-day negotiating period between Iran and the United States has ended without a peace agreement. Iran has since announced it is shifting from a “defensive” to a “fully offensive” posture. The Federal Government is moving ahead with plans for a $3.2 billion strategic fuel reserve, which will eventually hold one billion litres of diesel and jet fuel. Japan’s Defence Minister Shinjiro Koizumi begins a visit to Australia today and will meet with Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles.
