Prime Minister Scott Morrison has thrown his support behind former New South Wales Premier Gladys Berejiklian in running for the federal seat of Warringah in Sydney's Northern beaches. Despite a pending corruption investigation into Ms Berejiklian's actions, Mr Morrison has again dismissed the Independent Commission Against Corruption's probe, encouraging her to consider running.

Gladys Berejiklian quit as the New South Wales Premier earlier this year, after the state's anti-corruption body announced an investigation into whether the former leader had breached public trust, or turned a blind eye to corruption, while in a secret relationship with former MP Daryl Maguire.

Ms Berejiklian denies any wrongdoing.

The Prime Minister also insists his colleague is clear, even before the independent commission concludes its inquiry.

Liberal pre-selection for several New South Wales seats, including Warringah in Sydney's northern beaches, has been pushed back until January 14.

The decision was reportedly made to give Ms Berejiklian more time to consider.

Meanwhile, at Sydney's international airport, 250 university students from 15 countries, including Indonesia, Singapore, Vietnam, South Korea, China and Canada, touched down to resume their studies.

It's part of a pilot program that's being trialled by the New South Wales government.
