Arisa and her family moved to Sydney when she was 10 years old.  In 2010, Arisa had an opportunity to go back to Japan and stay there for a while.

During her stay in the mother country, as a Japanese-Australian, Arisa faced more cultural differences than she thought she would.  She put all those experiences into a monologue and wrote a screenplay out of it.

Arisa's one-woman play Confessions of A Custard Melon Pan (September 12-14) will be premiered in Sydney at this year's Sydney Fringe Festival.

In the audio, Arisa shares her experience as a 1.5 generation Japanese immigrant and tells us how she developed her thoughts into a one-woman play.  Arisa thinks that the stories of Japanese-Australians haven't been told enough in the entertainment industry and she would like to change that.
