SBS Japanese began on Melbourne's ethnic radio station 3EA in August 1981. Yoko Davis, one of the first presenters and worked for the Japanse community for over 20 years, passed away on the 31st of October, aged 78. We spoke to Yoko's daughter, Sian.

In an era without the Internet, Yoko and her team met people in person and went places to gather information for the Japanese community. Everything started from scratch. Then SBS Japanese has grown with the community.

Yoko's daughter Sian says it was amazing to see her mother going out into the community, and was surrounded by so many friends.
