The United Nations is warning of what it calls "a global measles crisis", following the release of figures showing cases of the illness have tripled worldwide in 2019. Provisional data from the bloc's agency for health, the World Health Organisation (WHO), indicates all regions of the world are seeing outbreaks.

The number of measles cases worldwide in the first three months of 2019 has increased by 300 per cent since the same time last year.  That's according to the WHO, which says its provisional data indicates the world is currently going through what it calls "a global measles crisis".
