Vatican 'acknowledges the court’s decision' to dismiss George Pell’s appeal.

In the wake of George Pell's appeal being dismissed, the community has responded to the Court's decision. The news brought relief to some child abuse survivors; the Church remained neutral, while Pell supporters reiterated his innocence.


The decision of a three-judge appeals panel to dismiss George Pell's appeal has brought a mixed reaction not just in Australia but around the world. 

Outside Melbourne's Court of Appeal, victims' advocates like Robert House welcomed the news.

However Pell has his supporters and they were vocal about their displeasure in the Court's decision.  Karen Baxter voicing her strong opposition to the judges verdict.

Meanwhile, the Vatican has since responded to the news.  Vatican spokesman Matteo Bruni says while they respect Australia's judicial system, Pell still has a right to appeal to the High Court.
