A magnitude 7.1 earthquake struck Kumamoto Prefecture at around 4:27 pm on 28 July, registering a maximum intensity of 7. Sydney resident Yukari Kuivisto, who had returned from her family home in Kumamoto that morning, spoke about her family and the situation at the property following the earthquake.
