During an interview with SBS Karen Program, Moe Hnin Thwe, a chairperson of the Melbourne Karen Buddhist Association (MKBA) said that in July of this year, they bought a land, about 80 acres, to build a monastery and community centre for the Karen community.

She said that, even though they had some financial difficulties, with the support of the community they were able to buy it.

Currently, they are waiting for council permission for the rights to hold culture and religious events and start the building process on the land.

Moe Hnin Thwe also thanks the Venerable Taung Kalay Sayadaw Ashin Pinnyathami and Karen community for their support to build the monastery.
