Karen Language School: The importance of being bilingual

"I did not think I would have a chance to continue to learn Karen language once I resettle to Australia but I am so happy now because I get to learn it", says Naw Kwa La Paw a student attending Karen Language School in Hoppers Crossing, Melbourne of Victoria. Tha Taw Kunoo, a teacher at the school also said that some students are very keen to learn their mother language but some come to attend the school just because their parents asked them to attend. However, he hopes that one day his students will understand how important it is to be able to speak our own language and maintain our culture in foreign countries.
