School students from a language background other than English are outperforming their native English speaking peers in NAPLAN, according to the latest data.

The national NAPLAN report revealed the results of multilingual students, as well Indigenous students, are improving, but some say results across the board are stagnant, and are pushing to have the minimum standard lifted.

According to the NAPLAN national report released today, LBOTE students outperformed their non-LBOTE peers in 2019 in spelling for all four year levels, years 3, 5, 7 and 9, and in numeracy in years 5 and 7.
