At least 5 people died in opened fire at Fort Lauderdale Airport in Florida

A shooter has opened fire at a baggage carousel at Fort Lauderdale Airport in Florida, killing at least five people before being taken into custody.

The local sheriff's office has confirmed five people are dead and eight others have been wounded.

Traveller Lori says the scene has been chaotic.

She says they heard gunshots and were told to run.

Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel says the suspect is being questioned.

Airport Director Mark Gale says airport operations have been suspended and not sure exactly when the airport will reopen for operations
