Australian passport holders will be able to travel to the United States as normal

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has confirmed that Australian passport holders will be able to travel to the United States as normal.

It follows widespread condemnation both in the US and abroad following the Trump administraion's decision to ban immigration from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen, and temporarily halt the entry of refugees.

The UK and Canada had already been granted exemptions and, speaking on Sky News, Mr Turnbull says Australia, too, is exempt.

Malcolm Turnbull: "Australian passport holders, regardless of their place of birth or whether they're dual nationals, or whether they hold another passport, will remain welcome to come and go to the United States in the usual way."
