Daria Gavrilova, Aussie's last hope in Australian Open

Daria Gavrilova will fly the flag for her adopted homeland today as the last local standing in the Australian Open.

Losses by Ashleigh Barty and Bernard Tomic in their third round matches last night (Fri)left Gavrilova as Australia's sole hope to reach the second week at Melbourne Park.

The Russian-born 22-year-old faces Timea Bacsinszky, the 12th seed, on Rod Laver Arena tonight (Saturday)

Other matches on day six of the Australian Open are: Serena Williams will face American Nicole Gibbs,and Karoline Pliskova will take on Latvia’s Jelena Oslapenko.

In the men’s contests, Alexander Zverev will face Rafael Nadal, Richard Gasquet will take on Grigor Dimitrov, Dominic Thiem will play Benoit Paire and Gael Monfils will face Philipp Kohlschreiber.
