The University of Sydney has been ranked fourth in the world for graduate employability

The University of Sydney has been ranked fourth in the world for graduate employability, ahead of leading institutions such as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge University and the University of Oxford.

The latest rankings from Q-S Graduate Employability Rankings also place the University of Melbourne seventh, above Oxford, Columbia, Princeton and Yale.

The rankings feature the world's top 500 universities with the Graduate Employabiity Ranking guauging how institutions are preparing their graduates for entering the working world.

Eight Australian universities have been listed in the top 100.

Stanford University was ranked number one.
