Egypt says its navy has found human remains, wreckage and personal belongings floating in the Mediterranean.

Authorities say this confirms an EgyptAir jet plunged into the sea with 66 people on board.

 

The navy had been searching an area about 290 kilometres north of the port city of Alexandria.
