Malcolm Turnbull: "The president made a committment to honour the deal that had been entered into by his predecessor. That's been confirmed now several times and it's very important that it goes ahead because it will enable us to secure resettlement options for people on Nauru and Manus who of course are there because the Labor party left them there as a consequence of their absolute tragic failure to keep our borders secure."

Earlier, At a public appearance at the White House he blasted the deal negotiated by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull last year with former US president Barack Obama, after earlier tweeting that the deal was dumb.
