The Australian Opens fourth day saw the biggest upset in recent tennis history.

A capacity crowd at Rod Laver Arena, and millions watching across the world, saw defending champion Novak Djokovic defeated in 5 sets by wildcard Uzbek Denis Istomin. (6-7, 7-5, 6-2, 7-6, 6-4)

The intensity of the nearly 5 hour match was evident from the start; the first game lasting an incredible 16 minutes.

Its the first time since 2008 that Djokovic hasnt reached a third round of a grand slam, he says he wasnt expecting to go.

DJOKOVIC: I started the season very well; again, its a tennis match. On a given day you can lose. Nothing is impossible. Theres a 100 players playing in the main draw and I guess the quality of tennis keeps rising each year. Everybody becomes more professional, they improve, they get better on the court - what can I do? I did try my best until the last shot but it didnt work.
