Mr. Eang Vuthy, Executive Director of Equitable Cambodia has led a group of villagers from Oral District, Kampong Speu province to Australia last week, seeking for legal advice to file the complaint against ANZ Australia for compensation up to $4 million USD.
ANZ has funded the loan to Phnom Penh Sugar Company which has been granted concession for the development of large-scale agriculture under a lease agreement of up to 99 years. The company has been accused of grabbing land from villagers in the area.
