Aiia Maasarwe's killer Codey Herrmann sentenced to 36 years in prison

Supreme Court Judge Elizabeth Hollingworth said the murder showed "utter contempt" for Aiia Maasarwe's life.

Codey Herrmann, who raped and murdered international student Aiia Maasarwe in Melbourne, has been sentenced to 36 years in prison. 

Herrmann, 21, pleaded guilty to beating Ms Maasarwe over the head, sexually assaulting her and setting her on fire.
