Mack Horton's dramatic week at the world championships has culminated in a powerhouse anchor leg to lift Australia to a pulsating victory in the 4x200m relay.

After making global headlines for his podium protest against Sun Yang, this time he let his swimming do the talking, sending the Australians (7.00.85) home with the fastest split of the race (1:44.85) to pull clear of Russia (7:01.81) and the USA (7:01.98) and give the Dolphins their fifth gold medal of the meet.

It looked as if the Australians had frontloaded the race as they led off with Clyde Lewis and Kyle Chalmers, who swam the individual 200m event. Instead it was Alex Graham, whose 1:45.05 was the quickest split of his section, and Horton who dropped the hammer to deliver victory.
