The Socceroos have received a huge boost with attacker Tim Cahill set to join the squad in Honduras for the 2018 FIFA World Cup play-off first-leg clash in San Pedro Sula.

Cahill was cleared of a fractured ankle and Football Federation Australia said he would make the long-haul trip to Central America on Monday, a day later that originally scheduled.

The 37-year-old will 'require continued assessment and treatment' to see what part, if any, he will play against Honduras, ahead of the first leg on Saturday November 11 (AEDT).

Cahill picked up an ankle injury playing for Melbourne City against Sydney FC on Friday night, but has been cleared of a fractured ankle and will travel to Honduras.

One player that won't be on the plane, however, is Robbie Kruse due to a knee knock.

The Bochum attacker will join the squad in Sydney ahead of the second-leg clash on Wednesday 15 November, as will suspended duo Mathew Leckie and Mark Milligan.
