Commonwealth Bank of Australia has recorded a near 35 per cent lift in ATM usage, just days after it cut fees.

CBA on Sunday dropped the $2 per transaction charge imposed on customers from other banks to withdraw money from its ATMs.

"The removal of ATM withdrawal fees has had an immediate effect," CBA executive general manager Andrew Hall said on Thursday.

The collective national rise for the first three days of the fee removal was 34 per cent.

This included usage spikes of 16 per cent on Sunday, 38 per cent on Monday and 46 per cent on Tuesday.
