A construction site went up in flames on Macquarie Street in the Sydney CBD on Thursday morning.

A construction site in the heart of Sydney is alight with fire crews closing the street.

Scaffolding at the site on Macquarie Street caught on fire on Thursday morning, Fire & Rescue said.

"Emergency services are responding to a fire at a construction site on Macquarie Street at Sydney. There have been no reported injuries. Diversions are in place," NSW Police tweeted about 8am.
