Top seed Novak Djokovic has had little trouble progressing to the second round of the Australian Open with a straight sets win over American qualifier Mitchell Krueger on Tuesday.

The six-time winner at Melbourne Park was broken early but went on to win the round one match 6-3 6-2 6-2 in a tick over two hours and set up a tantalising encounter with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

Djokovic is chasing his 15th grand slam title which would place him above Pete Sampras on the all-time men's major tally.
