Fed hike not surprising: Morrison

Treasurer Scott Morrison says the decision by the US Federal Reserve to lift rates shouldn't have come as a surprise to anyone.

"It has been the probably most anticipated and expected decision that we have seen from the Fed Reserve for some time," Mr Morrison told reporters on the Gold Coast on Thursday.

The US central bank raised the fed's funds rate for only the second time in a decade at its meeting on Wednesday.
