Not a terrorist act

From the UK, Prime Minister Scott Morrison said "our advice is that this is not a terrorist act".

"There is nothing to suggest that that is the case whatsoever," he said.

"I just want to extend my deep condolences and sympathies to all the people in the Territory, particularly in Darwin. This is a very tight community and I know they will be rocked by these events."

Acting Prime Minister Michael McCormack tweeted "our thoughts are with those who have been killed, their families and friends".
