Geelong Korea won the opening game of the 2019/20 Australian Baseball League season

Geelong Korea won the opening game of the 2019/20 Australian Baseball League season. Geelong Korea walked off in extra innings and defeated Sydney 2-1 at the Geelong baseball park on 21 November.

New Geelong Korea, made up of KBO hopefuls, picked up its first win in this season, heralding a sensation.

Sydney took an early lead after ex Major-Leaguer Andy Burns, who played at the Lotte Giants in KBO, hit a solo home run in the top of the first. Geelong Korea answered quickly with Ji-Hwan Bae scoring on a groundout after a leadoff walk.

GK used a bases-loaded hit by pitch to Byeong-woo Jeon in the bottom of the 10th to down the Blue Sox at Geelong Baseball Centre.
