Hotels evacuated as Bali rocked by 6.1 undersea earthquake

A magnitude 6.1 earthquake has struck south of Bali in Indonesia, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre says.

An undersea earthquake with a magnitude of 6.1 has struck south of the Indonesian tourist island of Bali, the European earthquake monitoring agency EMSC says.

The epicentre of Tueday's quake was 102km southwest of Denpasar and 100km deep, it says.

There was no tsunami warning from the Hawaii-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

The US Geological Survey recorded the quake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.7.

Holidaymakers took to social media to express their fear and shock in the wake of the quake and some hotels were evacuated.
